Señorío De P.Peciña Reserva Magnum 2014
There are few wines that command attention quite like this one. Produced from the finest Tempranillo, Graciano and Garnacha grown on the calcareous clay soils of San Vicente de la Sonsierra, the Reserva Magnum represents the very best of what this remarkable family estate has to offer — and the magnum format only adds to its sense of occasion.
The grapes are destemmed, crushed and fermented naturally using wild yeasts in stainless steel tanks, allowing the fruit to express itself without intervention from the very beginning. What follows is a patient, unhurried journey through the cellar — 36 months resting in used American oak barrels, with six rackings carried out by hand using the traditional barrel-to-barrel method every six months, allowing the wine to decant naturally with each transfer. A further minimum of 18 months in bottle follows before release, during which the wine finds its balance and settles into something truly special. Bottled un-fined and unfiltered throughout.
The result is a wine of real elegance and maturity. A striking orange robe with brick-coloured hues at the rim, with soft aromas of vanilla, leather, tobacco and dried flowers that unfold gradually in the glass. On the palate it is velvety and mellow, beautifully balanced with great length and a finish that lingers long after the last sip.
