Organic wine is a wine made from grapes that have been grown without the use of herbicides and pesticides. Organic wine makers work with nature, rather than against it, to keep the weeds and bugs at bay, by boosting their vineyard’s biodiversity. They may introduce cover crops to encourage beneficial insects to control problem species, or allow small livestock to graze between the vines, eating the grass and weeds. This way, the vineyard becomes self-regulating, a natural ecosystem that doesn't need the input of harsh chemicals and fertilisers.
We believe wholeheartedly in the benefits of Organic production but we haven’t selected these wines because they are Organic. They’re on our list because they are fabulous wines that happen to be Organic.
